I can’t believe I paid to watch this movie. The Wave deserves a much better sequel than this. All of the character development attributable to the leads from The Wave goes “out of the window”; in fact the leads become downright unlikable and are terribly selfish.
As if the downgrading of the characters weren’t enough, the movie provides little in the way of perspective, choosing to focus almost exclusively on the perils faced by part of Kristian’s family caught inside of a skyscraper when the titular earthquake hits, and neglects to explore the implications of the disaster for anyone other than our detestable leads. The Wave on the other hand did not make this mistake and gave significant time to secondary characters.
The action is not believable in any way. The Wave left room for plausibility, The Quake doesn’t understand the word.
And my last complaint, for this post at least, is that the climax of the movie left everything to be desired, and the closing shots only left me with more questions.
