I am a huge fan of the original Law and Order. I can watch the reruns over and over again despite knowing what is going to happen just because it was so well done and because the cast was generally superb and the writing was incredible. I must say that I am extremely disappointed in the reboot, it was mediocre in almost all regards. The writing on the first episode was unrealistic, the cast other than Anthony Anderson is not very good. I’m astounded that after all the great casting Dick Wolf did in the original and all the spin-offs that a better job wasn’t done. Jeffrey Donovan is a terrible actor, such a come down from all prior detectives, especially when compared to Jeremy Sisto who when paired with Anderson was the best team of the series. While I love Sam Waterston, he is just too old to realistically play the DA of NYC. I’ll hold judgement on the rest of the cast, but concerned. And what was going on with the coat closet in the courtroom? There are so many unknown young actors out there that in the past were the bread and butter of Law and Order, why place so many retreads in key roles? Never needed too because the format and productions had been so good. I pray that Dick Wolf figures this out quickly before the reboot is cancelled. I’ll add that it was a crime when the original was cancelled, it was still great and the final cast was fabulous, as good as any, should have carried on. Save our show! Regards. Ned.
