I am based out to Dallas area, so would like to say I was surprised that a 3D hindi movie was being played in far flung area of outskirts of Mckinney which is in outskirts of Dallas, in an inconspicuous old local Cinemark Hall. With all mixed reviews, finally we took a plunge to watch the movie. Movie hall was not packed in capacity but there were quite a few families out there. We as a family went to watch movie so I think it is worth to share each of our perspectives.
My wife liked it a lot, she liked the love angle and how that empowered the protagonist. This part of movie I know is heavily criticized that why a love angle and make it a bollywood types but her point of view was that she felt actress paid a critical role in helping protagonist realize his true potential. I could draw a senergy between this one and Matrix Part One, though I felt that actress character could have been better developed like in Matrix. She gave entire movie 7/10. I felt, she gave 7 even after liking the movie as she normally is not into fantasy cinema.
Next my teenage son, for him movie was quite good and he said he saw a Bollywood movie for the first time with such a good graphics. He is very logical but to few plot holes as he is a Marvel fan said it is OK to keep few areas open as this is a sequel and they may close loop in next sequel just like they do it in Marvel and he doesn't expects movie to have tied up all points and show part of life of each character. He gave it 8/10.
My youngest 8 year old son gave it 10/10. He saw entire movie aptly and jumped off seat when he saw SRK as he is SRK fan. His best part in movie was different types of weapons they had plus he was super enthralled to watch all of it in 3D.
As to myself, as I am the most critical one typically if my family likes it half of the objective is met. My son gave me a logical explanation of few plot holes that gave me a perspective. In addition the love story part (that I felt could have been better built like Matrix) my wife gave a different pov to it. Overall, I liked the movie, few points less as it is just me, hence 8/10. It didn't feel at all it was slow, things kept moving, watching in 3D added additional flavor. We came out of hall with a feeling that we saw a good movie after a long time and me putting 'Deva' song in car just added to nostalgia as we drove back home.
