Great game, and is not dangerous at all, yes the writer of the book is a Christian, but that has not have and impact on the quality of the game. Wired has a biased leftist false narrative on this game and I strongly recommend not reading what they have to say about it. We do not have to take politics in to everything. Real world issues should not impact on the way a game is rated. Overall great game, and not harmful for you and your kids.
