Why this book is important. People watch films, and think they could be the hero. People train in Martial arts and think they will be able to defend themselves or even fight crime (yes, I know someone who thought they could like Batman). This book is a no nonsense look at violence. It's ugliness and it's consequences . The people within aren't glamorous and their lives are often hard. The violence in their lives doesn't end with a hand shake or a bow when the bout is over. What usually follows is retribution and done so in an ugly, cowardly and visceral way that doesn't spare family members. I can definitely recommend this book because it shows what violence is really like when all the Hollywood nonsense removed. A very sobering read.
