I'd like to 1-star the movie but the extraordinary scenes just gain the additional one.
Given my review, I don't want to judge this movie based on how good was the predecessor, 20 years ago, but based on the plot and what happens in it.
Two scenes in particular caught my attention and display how bad this movie is in my opinion:
The first one was the arrival on the Moon of a giant spaceship which is shot down by the Human Race like it was nothing. Better again, in 20 years humans have prepared to wage war against aliens and what do they decide to do? Well, we've just destroyed an alien spaceship but it's the 4th of July so we can leave it there for today, we'll just give a look at it tomorrow. I must say, even if all of that have happened on a classic Sunday morning, well... it's Sunday sirs, we'll look at the alien spaceship on Monday. I was like "sorry, what?";
The second scene was the 'election' of the new US President. Now, I am not from the US and that may be my fault in not understanding this 'wonderful process' of the election but more than a billion people had died on the day of the bad-aliens arrival, plus the Human Race is about to get wiped out and they seriously feel the need to proceed with the oath of the new US President?
Moreover I'd like to mention a few additional scenes the movie disconcerted me with:
A spaceship larger than the Atlantic Ocean landed on Earth, wiped out a quarter of our Planet, hosts some microclimates in it and has just an army of a thousand drones plus some alien and its Queen inside? Seriously?
One more: Humans are said to be finally reunited, still we see a couple of high-ranked Chinese soldiers and the US flag everywhere. Peraphs they forgot to say humans were reunited... but under the US government 🤔
