I read a couple of reviews before I decided to write my own, which I probably shouldn't have done.... but I couldn't understand why people didn't love this.
I probably should start of by saying my background is in art and photography and from the very first shot of this film I appreciated how hard they tried to use traditional filming techniques and true lighting. The result was beautiful.
A lot of people complained about the story line, but I'm a little confused by that. It's a recreation of a film that was already made back in 1922, and the 1922 film was heavily based off Bram Stoker's Dracula. So I don't get the surprise that the storyline wasn't more original or more believable.
I did appreciate that the woman was actually the one to save the day. While there were pretty stereotypical characters (again not surprising as it is a remake from over 100 years ago), I thought that was pretty forward thinking.
Overall I really enjoyed the movie; it was just a beautiful film.
