This movie was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. The only reason I’m giving this five stars is because of Kingpin, the main villain of the movie and probably the greatest fictional character ever created. Every time Kingpin is on screen, this movie is a 10/10. The very presence of him is enough to carry even the lowest-grossing movie of all time and bring it up to 100% on the tomato meter. I would give this a 10/5 if I could. Despite the horrendous voice acting, terrible storyline, and disgusting animation, Kingpin makes this movie one of the greatest in history. I doubt any other film in the future could even come close to touching this.
Now let’s talk about the character of Kingpin. Despite the main characters lacking any decent development, personality, or chemistry, Kingpin’s character was outstanding. His character development was way above average, all his lines are amazing, and don’t even get me started on his backstory. He should have been the protagonist of this movie instead of Miles Morales, who barely had anything a protagonist should have. Kingpin’s voice acting was also on point throughout the whole movie, unlike the other characters, which were a hit or miss when it came to that.
Kingpin’s character design was perfect. His ominous stance when he confronts Miles was enough to have me on the edge of my seat. With his sheer size and power alone, Kingpin could destroy all of Manhattan single-handedly. With the abnormal size of him and the weight he has to carry around, I’m surprised he didn’t collapse into himself and create a black hole. I mean this is probably thousands of pounds of sheer muscle that this one man can wield, as multiple times we can see him literally breaking concrete with his bare hands, killing Spider-Man in the process. If Kingpin wanted to kill me for any reason, I would let him, just so I would go to heaven with the honor of being obliterated by Kingpin himself.
Overall thoughts: this movie was absolute garbage fire, and I could barely endure the 1 hour 40 minute runtime, other than when Kingpin was on-screen. If Kingpin was the protagonist this would be a five star movie, otherwise this is a 1 star, 0 if I could do that.
