i was interested from a clip off tik tok where dani meets court & they flirt a bit. i was expecting a cute southern romance with a small age gap, but then court meets dani’s sister, completely forgets dani, and just gets with her instead. he acts like he didnt kiss dani, and didnt swim with her in their lake or whatever for a while. at least apologize or something or tell her you werent actually interested like that anymore. constantly saying she was too young etc etc was just annoying. i was like okay whatever, new couple, theyre cute and in love. wrong…he died in such a lousy way after he fell in love with dani’s sister. then the family didnt even comfort marueen (dani’s sister) they were all focused on dani. only one who comforted maureen was her mother. maureen literally lost her first true love, and youre worried about the 14 year old who had a crush on an older boy. yes, loss sucks, but jesus if i lost my first love like that with no support i’d for real join him at that point. shes going off to college, alone, in grief and it didnt even seem like anyone had a big reaction to his death besides her. also, the father telling dani to “get over” the fact that this guy who willingly kissed her got with her sister is also irritating. OF COURSE a teenager is going to be mad her almost boyfriend is now with her older sister. she was seriously just a kid who met a boy who then just dumped her like nothing. then he dies. like what? it was like they wanted to keep the “tragic love story” type of thing going and it didnt work out like they thought it was gonna. im giving it 2 stars though because the character designs were good (outfits & vibe) and the scenery was great. would not watch it again but to each their own.
