Despite the good cgi and costumes, it all means nothing compared to the disrespect towards the game franchise. Just like the Resident Evil films, Anderson is yet again, making his wife as the main lead and only using the name of the games to make quick money with no love nor respect to the game itself.
What really disappointed me was the lack of research towards the game itself. Monster Hunter isn't just fighting monsters to look like a badass. The monsters, the people, the animals, the environment is all apart of an ecosystem working together.
I'd give it the benefit of the doubt if it weren't named a Monster Hunter film, and just a standalone for its story; while bad and rushed in terms of story, especially towards the ending/climax, I did appreciate the survive arc in the desert.
