We listened to this recently and can only say it’s just the most beautiful story. We found the book by complete accident but truly such an amazing story of life right through from the 40’s up to 2008. Stan comes across as a very special man who stuck by his values to conduct every funeral with such dignity. Well worth reading or listening to, especially if you were brought up in UK. It brought back many memories of my life in the 50’s & 60’s in UK. It’s one of those books you just don’t want it to end.
