This film is absolutely amazing. A very touching story where you genuinely feel positive emotions for the 2 main characters. The main character Adele is extremely likable and you root for her throughout. Even when she makes her one real mistake of the movie you almost immediately have sympathy for her. The acting was fucking phenomenal. Both actresses deserved recognition from the Academy Awards. It is actually a disgrace that Adele Exarchopoulos didn't receive a nomination. Not only did she deserve the recognition but she should've won the award for Best Actress. The fact she didn't receive a nomination makes me wonder what the criteria is. She gave one of the best performances I have ever seen by anyone EVER. I prefer doing ratings on a scale of 1-10. I would give this a 9.1 out of 10. Since we have to use the star system and we can't give quarter and half stars I will have to go 5. I would go 4 3/4 stars but since it's closer to a 5 than it is to 4 it gets 5 stars. One of the biggest critiques people have with this film is because of the graphic sex scenes. Honestly I walked away from this film saying wow the French can make a really beautiful piece of art and have it feature graphic depictions of sex. 20 minutes after watching this I was still thinking of the main character Adele and still would get a lump in my throat. The fact her journey and the actresses performances so heavily outweighed the graphic depictions of sex should tell you all you need to know about this film.
