This comedy drama begins predictably, and indeed, early on, even appears a little crass. However, it is saved largely by two things; the strong performances of the two leads (especially Lawrence), and a surprisingly tender centre. Sure, it's tropey; deception, deception uncovered, characters learning life-lessons and growing as a result, understanding and resolution. But it has a good heart, is sufficiently entertaining, and left me satisfied in the end.
