I took my time reading this book. Not my first book from him and I believe what I admire most is how, as he's telling his story, one can't help but feel nostalgic about their own childhood from something as simple as when he mentioned the pit toilet, which makes one remember their own memories. He's so real. He manages to touch on lighthearted stuff and maneuver into the deep stuff too! Effortlessly so! it's almost as if he's there relaying the stories to you as a friend and you just don't want the time to go by because otherwise, we all have to go back to our normal lives again…. What I'll say is, in a nation where many have had to alter who they are to fit the narrative or to be liked, he effortlessly made space and attracted people to accept him for who he is – and, heck, pay him for his authentic brilliance! I hope he never stops writing, because I sure will never stop buying a book written by him.
