To me playing both games I do not see a single reason as to why CoH3 is at all better than CoH2 and in my opinion worse:
- Balancing
- Models are low polly for console port (for a next gen game this is insane)
- Textures / materials all look the same (you don't get materials like wood looking like wood, metal like metal) it's like they used one diffuse texture and ran with it
- VFX are dogs***
- SFX is dogs***
- Matchmaking times
- Updates / patches are slow
- Store was put up before major update
- Terrible unit animations (this includes ragdolls)
- Decals including effects like fire and destructed entities disappear too -quickly due to preformance.
- Comparing 2 to 3 voice dialog is worse and repetitive
- UI/UX looks like it's pulled from a asset package (again blame console port) it's boring and bland and doesn't fit any themes
- Units are slow and clunky
- No advanced folliage that you would assume would go into a next gen game (subsurface, tons of particals / billboards)
- No advanced lighting that you would assume would go into a next gen game (ray tracing, dynamic shading for point lights / ambient lighting / reflective lighting)
- No advanced physics / mesh deformation that you would assume would go into a next gen game (Units just blow up and dissapear, destruction is basically adding a decal to a mesh deformer and a slight vfx to cover it up this is why craters look like they popped in)
