The references to Clay (main character’s name) and symbolism of it are breathtaking. When I realized how masterfully woven clay and bridges intersected in the story, I literally gasped. The end shocked me as I felt I hadn’t really understood Clay and this entire family until I came to the end. There were so many times I just ached for these characters. I could feel them in my core. This author is masterful.
