It's ok but Odyssey was way better. Fighting style, armor and weapon appearance, controls, combos, story, weapons, special abilities, ship battles, and even the assassination styles were just so much more superior in Odyssey compared to Valhalla.
I did enjoy the raids and the concept of upgrading your village. Asgard and the Nors Mythology concept was pretty cool.
I was introduced to the AC series through Odyssey because of how much praise it got. Once I started playing it I couldn't put it down! I even convinced several friends to buy it too and they all thought it was amazing. Not Valhalla. I get bored playing and find myself either going back to Odyssey or even older games for entertainment. Sure I still play Valhalla but I'm already so bored with it. Odyssey didn't have all these "can you figure out how to get to it" spots all over the map. It's extremely off-putting to have to constantly figure out how to get into a building, down into a cave, on top of a mountain, etc. to get a single item (Wealth, silver, weapon, ability or whatever). The time spent for the items found are not worth it.
I could go own for a while as to why I am disappointed in this game. Those same friends who I convinced to buy Odyssey wanted to know about this game. I told them to wait until it's practically free.
Again Odyssey was my introduction to Assasins Creed and I loved it! I pre-ordered Valhalla strictly because of my experience with Odyssey. Never again. If the next AC game looks good and interesting then I'll wait. Especially so it gives UBISOFT time to fix a game that was released before it was finished so I do not have to deal with it crashing, freezing, and other glitches.
I was stupid and pre-ordered Valhalla and spent way too much on this game. When people ask I tell them do not spend more than $15 for it and all the add-ons, if even that.
Very disappointed. I'm gonna restart the Odyssey story campaign again for the 500th time now, because that is more fun than playing this new game once!
