I chose this book for my bookclub after reading the positive reviews and a recommendation from a friend. Initially, I enjoyed the book, but about a third of the way through I started to get very annoyed. The constant bashing of religion (God/Jesus in general and the Catholic Church specifically, even though I am not Catholic) got old very quickly. In addition, I began to feel the characters became unbelievable and the ending was quickly tied up with a happy ending bow that was predictable. I’m sorry I chose this book for my friends to read and will be interested to hear their opinions when we meet for discussion. The only bright spot of this book was six-thirty, the dog.
