Very disappointed! I wanted to like this movie because I was a big fan of the 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman. And since this was basically the same storyline and didn't have Keanu Reeves' horrible British accent, I'd thought it would at least be comparable.
This felt like War of the Roses or Ruthless People mixed into the Dracula horror genre. There's no love, only animosity between Count Orlok and Depp's character. She hates him because he still torments her after being dead for centuries. And Count Orlok hates her because she's a painfully awful actress.
Orlok's dialogue is inaudible most of time because it sounds like one of the trees from LOTR: The Two Towers, only with long exhales of breath. And when he's shown, it's only his eyes, nose and moustache or his fingernails.
I understand CGI and Special Effects have taken over the movie business, but are they so cash strapped for a decent screenwriter?
The critics were raving about this movie and the director, but I think he needs a course in screenwriting and a refresher that more CGI rats doesn't always make for a better movie.
There were alot of scenes that didn't make sense in this movie and in the end, it added up to a very confusing movie.
