Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a Sci-Fi novel based on Greek Mythology, some people say that it is quite similar to Harry Potter and that the Author Rick Riordan stole the idea of the protagonist being a trio of 2 boys and a girl, but I strongly disagreed as it shows the difficult journey endured by Percy and in no way is similar to Harry Potter. This book tells us about a young boy Perseus (Percy) Jackson who was trying to be a normal teenager with ADHD and Dyslexia but got to know the truth about the world and finds out that he is a Demigod Son Of Poseidon who carries the fate of the world but soon after his discovery he lost his mom and had to set on a quest to bring her back from the underworld with his friends Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood. He makes some friends on his journey but some also betray him. It can be easily distinguished from any book or novel based on Greek Mythology as it is set in modern times where the Greek Gods have to hide their existence from the real world, It shows us the journey of a young Demigod who struggles to accept the reality of the world and the dangers that come with it.
In All this book was fantastic, Packed with mysteries and action sequences and the central mystery of the Prophecy that was given to Percy "You shall go west, and face the god who has turned, You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned, You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend" It taught me a lot about Greek Myths and Legends, I would say that it was one of Rick Riordan's best works and I would give it a 5-star rating.
