I loved the plot and adore the characters. However, all the characters are connected to each other or either related by blood. The story starts with Harriet who wanted to pursue her career as a doctor and study medicine. She went against her family to study medicine and finds a good partner John, later who encourages her to pursue her career.
On the other hand the other two main characters Edward and Liz go through tough days, stay together in poverty and bad health. Liz as a mute wife cares for her partner and Edward as a handicapped man finding his way out by publishing his own stories and becoming independent to earn on his own because he is so thankful to his wife and wants to give her the best of the world he could.
However, Edward and Liz being a legit heir and heiress after Lord Farlington and Lady Farlington. They become one by luck. To make them Lord and Lady, the author kills everyone in his family either by accident, either by murder or health issues. gets killed or die.
My thoughts about this plot is why would someone who are already progressing economically need a luck to become Lord or Lady who already inherit their own Clayton title.
I would have preferred if all the Clayton family aplogise to Edward and after Edward became successful by his own hard work.
