I think the show has gone down hill since Jack’s death. And I’ve watched the show since the 1st season. I will add that the acting Erin did as Elizabeth after Jacks death was some of the best acting I’ve seen her do. However, the relationship between Lucas and Elizabeth is so superficial and lacks depth. You need to feel invested in a character to continue to watch. At this point I don’t care what Lucas and Elizabeth do. I think it would be better for the shows longevity if Lucas and Elizabeth move out of Hope Valley and a new teacher is brought in. Or to do a spin off with the other characters. If they continue with Lucas and Elizabeth relationship I don’t think I will continue to watch.
