Either I’ve gotten worse at watching movies, or this movie is so convoluted it had my brain turning circles.
It appears to be overstuffed with subplots and characters that there isn’t enough for a regular viewer to latch onto without reading the extra material, such as the books published around the movie, to understand. I especially found the scene in where the family tree was revealed difficult to understand. What’s also greatly disappointing is that this movie is effectively an establishing episode for a TV show. You don’t get a proper fight or conclusion, just a build up to one.
Whatever happened to movies standing up on their own?
