I am a big fan of the Harry Potter Series and JK Rowlings writing style used in those books. The Ickabog has been a dissapointment for me both in terms of writing style and story. It starts ok with the mysterious local myth of the ickabog but soon turns into a political drama filled with tragedy, murder, deception, suffering, etc. The ickabog itself has a very little role to play in the story and comes into being in the last ten or so chapters of the book. I did finish the book just to find out how the story ends but I will not be reading it again.
