This game was torture to play through. All the characters you liked either died or got shoved to the side. Out of the new cast I liked the side characters more than the new main character. To people who think this game is getting bad reviews only because of Joel's death are delusional, almost everyone and their mothers expected Joel to die in the second game, the problem is the manner in which he dies makes no sense. Joel the 40+ years experienced apocalypse survivor falls for a grade school level trap. That's only one poorly written part of the game which trashed plot potential that the first game already built. The game is just simply bad with the same old mechanics from 7 years ago, a mediocre story you're forced to play with an unlikable MC that drags on way too long and many dry, strange or inconclusive moments making the game feel unnatural, by the end the only character I cared about was Ellie and even then from start to finish all she received was dull character development and misfortune. It's almost as if naughty dog got a whole new team that disregarded why the first game was such a masterpiece, instead they made a game where they threw in every idea they thought was good until it was a mess, put a bowtie on it by adding a good message at the end hoping everyone would openly accept it without thinking about what a monstrosity of a game was created. If you're going to make a game filled with positive social justice, correctness and acceptance, IT CAN BE DONE WELL but this wasn't it.
