An absolute disaster of a movie. There was no coherent timeline, and the narrative kept jumping from one story to another, with each plotline randomly spawning a new one. The only redeeming quality was Nicholas Hoult, who did a commendable job.
However, I’ve never seen such over-the-top acting from someone playing Superman. Superman is traditionally portrayed as humble and lowkey, but in this film, he seemed to be loudly announcing his identity at every turn. James Gunn has created an incredibly cringeworthy film here.
Throughout the movie, Superman was constantly getting beaten — and not by supervillains, but by ordinary humans. It was his dog, Krypto, who kept saving him. The loud, cheesy background music only made things worse.
It felt like a parody of a Superman movie. I found myself just waiting for it to end. An absolutely horrible experience — do not waste your time.
