I was so pumped for this game to come out after playing Diablo 2 and 3. Man, what a disappointment. The classes are underwhelming and the campaign doesn't feel important to me.
Pros:
- Character abilities are neat.
- Having a mount is great.
- Level 1-50 is enjoyable and personally, that is where you'll feel the best because you'll get new gear for your character you've never seen.
Cons:
- There is no endgame. Grinding in Diablo 4 is extremely different than in Diablo 2 or 3 as it is not as rewarding. By level 65-70 you're likely to have the best gear so anything after that is useless.
- You are forced to build your characters in certain ways. My first character was Sorcerer and to do actual damage, there were only 2 viable builds after level 50. Patches to address this nerfed everything rather than lifting other potential builds up. Not the way to go Blizzard.
- Recycled bosses and fetching quests disguised as dungeons are unsatisfying. Once you find best gear, even if you aren't level 100, there's no incentive to get there.
- The devs do not listen to the players. They are more focused on MMO implementation rather than true ARPG mechanics. Patches seem to cater to PvP fairness rather than PvE combat where you actually feel strong. Very unfortunate this game will sit in my library due to horrible patches and lack of content after the campaign.
If you are a casual gamer, the cons in this review may not apply, but if you've played Diablo 2 or 3, might as well stick to them. This ain't it.
