This anime moved me so deeply. The plot is so layered and the characters and their desired and experiences are so palpable and raw that I almost felt their tribulations physically. There is so much gravity and purpose in the story, and it's structured in a way that is so fluid and yet unpredictable. Be prepared for some intense emotional turmoil... and a reality check. I wish, with all my heart, that this anime got more recognition and praise because it's such a thought-provoking story with characters that are so alive that they really get under your skin. Banana Fish is as brilliant as a jade gleaming at sunrise (spoiler alert) but not so easy. It comes with a drive that can crush you but once you let it, it will empower you. So do me a favor and fall in love with this anime!
