This is a beautiful book, full of insights into the colonial history and current story of the people of Anigua. Kincaid masterfully describes the faces of old and new masters while exposing the face of poverty endured by a vast majority of blacks, Antiguans, as a constant in the lovely landscape so richly endowed with natural beauties.
