Absolute turnips. Expected more from Ridley. Whilst I accept that the attention span of the modern generation can't pay attention to something longer than a 9 second reel, Gladiator 2 was too jumpy, too quick, and had zero plot development between action packed scenes.
The emotions of Lucius towards his Mum seemed so flippant and changeable without any explanation as to why. It just didn't make any sense.
Lastly and most painfully, this literally just rode the coat tails of the first. It was almost as if they asked an undergrad film student to rewrite the first movie for the modern world. It basically followed the exact same narrative arc with minute differences. Soooooo many flashbacks from the first film it was almost as if they knew it was a bag of turnips and relied on nostalgia for their success. Then, nail in the coffin, they finished on the wheat field scene and I nearly ran to the screen to dirty-protest.
