No one will ever know what really happened to 1Paula Jean. I knew her mother very well, and have some issues with the way she was portrayed in this. Losing a child the way dPaula died, changes a mother. Miss Carol was a product of her Oklahoma upbringing during the depression. She came to regret her actions when learning Paula had dated an African American young man.
The bias of the CRPD had far more impact on the lack of resolution of Paula's disappearance than Carol's attitudes prior to her murder.
Still this is a worthwhile read about one of the most puzzling murders in the annuls of Cedar Rapids crimes.
