I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. While the plot does not line up with history too closely, it at least lets you sample a taste of the time period. To anyone who enjoys ancient Roman/medieval era movies, this is for you. The battle techniques are realistic enough, though there is heavy gore- you are warned. Besides that, the scenery from Scotland is downright beautiful!! The cast, led by Michael Fassbender, delivers outstanding performances. Fassbender's portrayal of Quintus Dias is particularly noteworthy, capturing the resilience and determination of a Roman soldier. Dominic West as General Virilus and Olga Kurylenko as Etain also provide remarkable performances. While this isn't the best of its genre or award winning by any means, it is definitely a very pleasing watch. Save this for a rainy day!
