Not exactly a cheerful concept within the film ( we're talking another M. Night Shyamalan offering afterall) but it's a well delivered one with good acting and direction that keeps you interested from start to finish
Without giving any spoilers away, the story revolves around one single question where depending on the ongoing replies of the people involved will kick start doomsday.
The only minor let down from my perspective was the flash back sequences in the film that didn't really work for me. Especially the one scene where two of the chosen 3 ( a male gay couple) are visited by the one"s parents who clearly aren't impressed by their relationship. I couldn't really see how this was of great significance to the main story line.
Still, all of the flashback sequences (including the one I've mentioned) were kept short so not a
major problem in the film as a whole.
To conclude, a film that keeps you interested from start to finish seems a rarity these days and this definitely does that. The 'Devil' is my favorite M. Night Shyamalan film to date but this one comes very close with it's originality. As with 'The Devil" the casting department did a good job with this film. "A knock at the cabin" is definitely worthy of your your attention if you enjoy unsettling films that this guy makes. Shyamalan is a unique and talented filmmaker for sure. 👍
