We were so excited just before the movie started—my grandson was even shouting, “In Minecraft, everything is made of blocks!” But I was truly disappointed to see the film include themes suggesting that people can change or choose their gender. It felt unnecessary and out of place in a movie meant for children.
The kids also didn’t enjoy the character in the pink jacket, and the subtle suggestion of a romantic or sexual aspect between same-gender characters felt inappropriate. Why introduce such complex topics in a space meant to spark joy and imagination in young minds?
