As someone who shares the name of the protagonist I was cautious about reading this book, particularly as I have experienced SA in my younger years.
This book is as brilliant as it is disturbing. The author captures the mind of a teenage girl perfectly. The detail in how the story jumps to the “present” and back to how Vanessa came to be in a “relationship” with her teacher was a smart move.
It’s a difficult read, triggering to many, it’s also graphic in parts which makes the reader uncomfortable… disgusted even.
This isn’t a happily ever after and nor it should be. It’s one of those books that will haunt you…
