I had high hopes for this movie. The cast, the reviews, and the trailer had me in awe and I was so anxious for it to be released.
I have to say I was disappointed. There was 5 minutes of the horrendous “incident” as they mention in the movie, then maybe another 5 minutes of the main characters pushing through their feelings. I feel like they could’ve went a lot deeper with this. Not just a teen having nightmares, taking Ecstasy, and then calmly being like “okay, I’m good now.”
Would’ve liked to have seen more of Shailene Woodleys character, and I feel like Maddie Ziegler barely had to memorize any lines. Did she even talk?
The story was there, the cast was there, but plot was in the trash.
I’m giving it a 2, solidly for the little sister scene.
