This film really hits home to anyone who has dealt with any type of physical addiction. The movie is at most parts funny, and lighthearted (the same way that me and my friends would make light of situations admist opiod and alcohol addiction). But all that goes away in certain scenes, you’re met with withdrawal, regret and the feeling that you yourself has wasted so much time, so much potential. This movie is truly a wake up call to everyone with substance abuse. The ending is a 10/10 (ignore the sequel), you’re left to somewhat interpret Renton’s future for your self. Does he stay sober, does he get the family, the dog, the big television, does he actually chose life. It truly leaves Renton’s fate with your own. The movie gives you the choice to choose life, and if you don’t how could a fictitious like Renton ever.
