Whilst I did enjoy the series and, unlike others, I like the fact the series focuses on different Bridgerton children, having read the book: ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me’, I was disappointed that some of the key narrative elements were not included in the same manner. One such moment was the storm scene in the library; I was so looking forward to that moment being in the TV series and, having watched it done so fleetingly, I’d rather they had cut it all together as it was such a let down.
The novel was full of fun and romance whilst the TV series is full of angst and frustration. It was more Pride & Prejudice than The Viscount Who Loved Me.
There seemed to be a desire to appeal to the political than the escapist enjoyment of series 1.
I hope for a return to the heart of the novels for series 3 and Benedict’s story.
