Ho-hum. There's the odd catchy tune - "Driving Me Too Hard," "Rolling Stones Blues" etc. but to my ears it sounds largely like an album by a (competent enough) Stones tribute band. Same old riffs somewhat retreaded and given a spit & polish, solid enough rhythm section punctuated by Keef's crunchy gee-tar. But i've heard it all before, done better - by the Stones! And as for Gaga's Merry Clayton tribute/imitation on "Sweet Sounds of Heaven" - nup, embarrassing.
The music sounds so... DATED. What are these guys - 80 years old? Oh, right...
But then there's the lyrics...
"When the whole wide world's against you
And that's got you on the run
And you think the party's over
But it's only just, only just begun."
Lazy, clichéd, trite.
and
"Now she's giving my loving to somebody new
I invented the game but I lost like a fool
Now I’m too young for dying and too old to lose."
Yeah, I don't know about that.
2 out of 5 stars from me.
