Actually you wouldn’t hate Marla so much if you worked in the healthcare industry. You would understand she represents the various layers of corporate bureaucracy that frustrate Elders, deny their human rights, overwork Caregivers, and deliver death management instead of healthcare as a result. Youth sanctimony is on the rise as we have invested little in our youth. Marla called her Mother a sociopath; the fruit never falls far from the tree. Elders are socially isolated in GATT nations where everything is monetized. We are an embarrassment on the world stage. When we slow down and make health care authority our rule of law, then we will have healthy nations. We must move forward to Africa and Asia. Elders are valued in nations on these continents for their wisdom and life experience, not their money in the bank. Shame on us all. Great movie. Marla forgot that we reap what we sow, as have we all.
