This book has stuck with me over the years for how much I despised it. Was in advanced English my entire schooling and can honestly say this is the only book I have ever truly hated. Could write off a lot of the fake deep stuff off on the characters age but many Native American/indigenous activists have spoken on the insensitive, stereotypical, and inaccurate representation in this book. I’ve also done some research and it is my understanding that the author is white. The title linevof the book is something along the lines of ‘you never know a man till you walk two moons in his moccasins’. Infuriating. Will say it’s one of the fastest times I’ve made it through book out of sheer stamina and unpacking the racism of the writing was the most satisfying book report I ever turned in.
