My review of The Batman is like exeriencing a blind date. You need to absorb what you just experienced and find the good and compare it with the bad points to make a decision on deciding whether it was a good date at all. Well, after some time mulling it through, I feel that I really liked the Batman. It is a dark movie, the tones and environment all looked gritty and real. No hint of sunshine just rain and dark gloom skies...in the daytime! It comes off more of a detective movie and not super hero. More horror and not drama. Oh, there are action scenes and they are very good! Unlike most super hero films, I did not detect any CGI. It is devoid of humor although I chuckled at some scenes which I believe was unintentional. It borders on the edge of an R rated film but I like this version. I did not think anyone could create a better version than Nolan's but this is better in a different way. The take on the Riddler and Penguin is totally 180 than most people are familiar with which is a strong point of this movie. My only complaint is it is too long. Several scenes could have been taken out and it would still make for a strong movie. Overall, it is a very good movie because Matt Reeves created yet another version of the Batman which will distinguish it from the others when we reflect on later in years to come.
