Whilst the base gameplay is great, Polyphony's treatment of it's playerbase, as well as the DRM and MTX, make it incredibly disappointing.
First of all the game uses an always-online DRM method. So when PD took the servers down for 30+ hours, owners were stuck with playing the stripped down arcade mode, with a limited selection of cars and maps.
The recent update also added to the already bad micro-transaction system. Payouts for many races were decreased even more than they already had been. This makes getting any of the $10million+ cars impossible to obtain without a massive grind or purchasing be ingame currency of the PS store.
Once the servers finally came back online, users received no compensation. All they got was a condescending letter from Kaz that explained that the payout decreases were to improve the game.
Whilst this game could be good, I can't see Sony & Polyphony doing what's required to fix it.
