After pouring over 60 hours into this game I can't help but feel frustrated and disheartened. I admit the first 10 hours or so was exciting, new region, new story, new pokemon and a fun mount, what's not to like? Quite a lot apparently
This doesn't really feel like a proper game. The graphics are lacking in the world and in the fights themselves. The lag really is a problem to the point it is always slow showing me what is in my pokemon boxes when I scroll through them, which seems madness. I admit the HUD and UI have been vastly improved since Sword/Shield but it still seems lacking in points to seeming obtuse.
Tera raids are also just a straight up mess. Often my turn is skipped yet I will be attacked and the timer runs down, it glitches, it doesn't apply heal effects to teammates, it will apply then delete status effects to any pokemon on the field and again the glitching and lagging.
The "open world" <cough> aspect is a nice path in the game but frankly badly executed for reasons many others have stated. I understand "this is their first attempt so give them a break" argument is out their but to me these people are just settling for substandard products because they're too loyal to a franchise. On that note, I feel the success of the franchise and its die hard fans has lead to a series of games that does not hold up against its contemporaries but people keep on buying this junk so there's no incentive to improve or at least meet the base standard that's out there.
