Batman meets film noir and gritty realism, but only halfway. The cinematography was compelling, but the story was not. Pattinson plays a physically unconvincing Batman but realistically unimpressive trust-fund billionaire orphan with psychological damage. The villains had so much potential but seemed to be reeled in for the sake of realism but that only made them half as interesting as they could have been. Batman himself didn't save anyone or stop any bad guys or do any superhero stuff at all, except for that intro with the guy on the bus. This movie could have been cut in half. For all the time spent in the detective crime-drama genre, that part was totally unoriginal and uninteresting. Lots of potential, lots of talent, totally boring story. Shame.
