Consonance Hazard

I played this game years ago - bought it early access, and was really excited about it. It was virtually unplayable - one of the ugliest games I’ve ever seen, terrible maps, horrible gameplay. It felt like a cereal box computer game from the 90s with Xbox 360 graphics. Recently I was scrounging for a new game and returned to it, figuring I must have been put off by the disappointment, but that it couldn’t have been that bad. Plus, they’ve had some years to work on it. It’s so much worse than I remembered. I’m honestly shocked that they released this game, and astonished that I didn’t take the time back then to try to get my money back.

The monsters in this show weren’t half as horrifying as its cheap aestheticization of the trauma of rape, and its strangely homophobic attempt at a generous portrayal of non-binary gender identity. Pending the explanation that the Mist is a metaphor for deep seated psychosexual anxieties which seem to have directed the show itself, I would say this show is bad. But the monsters were cool.
