(Read all the way to the bottom, as my opinion changed!)
I am on episode 3, and I feel like I must be missing something...it seems so beloved, but I am struggling to like the female lead. The first episode made her seem really caring, and that she just happened to like nice things, but everything since makes her look really snobby and selfish EXCEPT in regard to her patients. I have read she gets better, but it must take awhile? And honestly, the male lead is kind of a jerk to her at times where it doesn't make sense...
I started this while waiting for the next episode of Extraordinary Attorney Woo-- so maybe my view is being affected by all the sweetness of that one.
Update-
just finished Ep 3, and it had a nice turn of character...so maybe finally better? hooked me for one more- we'll see...
and even later...it DID get better, for sure! But wow, they nearly lost me after the first 2 episides...just too slow to reveal some of the redeeming characteristics...but I am in it now. That said, like some have said- there are problems. Some of the farcical things that could be offensive (spousal abuse via hitting...would never be perceived as funny if gender reversed, etc, being one of them. One just has to remember the genre and intent, and hope the viewers understand where it is coming from -I do--but I can see where it could be a problem.)
Also...how do they choose voices for the subtitles-- because sometimes they are so different? I like watching and listening to the original Korean best, I find. As a romance language major, I sometimes switch to other languages...and they really affect one's perception of the characters?!?! Not in a good way.
Finally...there seem to be some obvious product placements...😆 advertising and sponsorship?
Weeks later, the soundtrack for this series stays stuck in my head, and it is not unusual for me to head to youtube just to watch some fan-made video of scenes between the lead characters, because eventually, they were THAT ADORABLE.
