I’m surprised Tom Cruise approved this version of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.
The movie felt incredibly rushed at the beginning. They had to cover too much ground and it felt disjointed. I think the poor start was hard to recover from.
The script seemed so slapstick and a couple of the death scenes were laughable. Overall the cast couldn’t overcomes a poorly written script.
The final third of the movie is classic MI and was enjoyable to watch. By the time the final monologue played I was a little more invested but ultimately I thought the movie was pretty weak overall. It felt corny. Not MI corny but bad corny.
Tom Cruise is always entertaining to watch. That’s why this movie still earned 3 Stars.
