I hope the developers are reading this.
If you are I want to say: You did a remarkable job. This is easily one of the best RPGs of all time and I can't express how impressed I am that this game was made by a team of just 10 people.
I think the people who left bad reviews don't realize the circumstances in which this game was born, and they have to be more forgiving because of that.
Yes the graphics, sound effects and music are lacking, but these guys were working under a small budget and still produced a bona fide MASTERPIECE of a game.
I always had a habit of creating new characters in Skyrim, playing for a few hours and then creating a new character again. The reason I did this was because I loved the feeling of helplessness and venerability in the early portion of the game. Starting fresh with nothing but the clothes on your back felt great. In fact I would often run through the tutorial section in Skyrim so I could face the open world with literally nothing, having to fight for the most basic of equipment.
But it was only a matter of a few hours that I was soon equipped with high quality gear and had more money than I knew what to do with. The challenge was lost because I became a god.
Outward brings us face to face with our mortality, giving us a true challenge. Every piece of silver is rightly earned and you have to struggle just to pay for a room at the local inn. This is what true adventuring is about: Not transforming into a god-like hero, but braving the wilderness. Exploring the hostile land, discovering new things and having that feeling of accomplishment. Outward gives us that in spades.
I do sincerely hope they will update the game with a larger and better soundtrack, as well as some other technical features. But the core gameplay is perfection and they don't need to change a thing.
It's a 9.5 out of 10 for me, and these devs rightly earned it.
