First off I'm an avid fan and played since gen 1. That being said it was understandable as they moved from handheld to console as main stream for their entrance that they would be in unknown territory as they are getting their feet wet. But sadly to say the overall performance of the game is severely lacking. It is choppy throughout the game, pokeballs hover in air when catching something (they used to fall to the floor in every single game... now they hover in air.) Choppy animations to start combat, previous entries were more polished. The game could've used a lot more TLC before release instead of rushing for the holiday gains. Texturing is lacking and inconsistent. The story hS also been getting incredibly weak with last few entries this one being the worst of the console series.
I feel a company should take a step back from where it's currently headed and take more time to polish the games they have been releasing. Both in story and in graphics. And by graphics I mean, not choppy, better textures and animations. I'm sure most would not mine if the game was released with a complete fluid feel.and not a choppy beta look and feel.
Also they have hundreds of different directions they can go for story. And I feel by now making it where you can customize a tween (as per normal) or an adult character would be huge. I know the genre has been aimed at kids but the biggest base is adults that have come to love the franchise over years. Just shocked that so much more quality and care could be put into it and yet they wanted to release the game for cash grabs for the holidays.
